First exported MiG-21 went to Finland?

Just been hearing that the first export of any MiG-21 outside the Soviet Union was to Finland, was this true?
From what I've been reading, Finland tried to diversify by having a mixed bag of planes from various countries, coupled with the limitations of how many and what types of planes they could use brought about by the Paris peace talks in 1947.
Is there any truth to the idea that the Soviets wanted them to have this plane in order of having a neutral country securing the Soviet's western flank from recon planes?

Not correct:

In the summer 1961 the first export MiG-21 aircraft were delivered to Czechoslovakia and Poland.

On 24th April 1963 the first ten of an eventual 22 Moscow-built MiG-21 F-13s (izdeliye 74) fighters were ferried to Finland

I believe it was much more a Finish desire to have a mix of aircraft from east and west.

Quote:
Finland also tried to balance its purchases between east, west and domestic producers. This led to a diverse inventory of Soviet (MiG-15, MiG-21), British, Swedish, French and Finnish aircraft. After unofficial talks with their Sweden, the Swedes began storing surplus Saab 35 Drakens, to be transferred to Finland in the event of a war with the Soviet Union.

Probably true to say that the first MIG 21 s delivered outside the Warsaw Pact went to Finland. I was told in Tampere that it was part of a clandestine deal in which embargoed DEC 10 and 20 computers went in the opposite direction.

Thanks for the clarification, I thought this story was a bit too unusual so I had to ask. With further reading, I see Finland was initially offered the MiG-19 but rejected it, thus getting the MiG-21.

Agreed, delivered outside the Warsaw Pact would be a better way to put it.

The policy of Finland's military during the Cold War was to buy a third of their military from the Soviets a third from neutral countries mostly Sweden and the last third from themselves or in some cases Western countries.
They didn't want to be dependent on Russia for their defense.
